"Rome of the east" - Part 3

In May 2012 I travelled with Ryanair for a 48 hours trip to the Lithuanian Capital. I knew nothign about this city so everything was new for me. Unfortunatly on the first day it was a lot of rain. But at the second day I could visit the Old Town of Vilnius which is a UNESCO World Heritag Site. Vilnius was the European Capital of Culture in 2009. Its name "Rome of the east" was coined by the fact that you are able to see from every point in Vilnius at least 4 churches.

"A childless weekend"

End of April 2012 we had a childless weekend because Petra´s parents took care of Svenja and Tim and offered a hotel room for us in Bad Kreuznach.
Bad Kreuznach is the capital of the district of Bad Kreuznach, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is located on the Nahe river, a tributary of the Rhine. "Hiking through vineyards"

During our weekend in Bad Kreuznach we took part at a hiking through the vineyards of the "Bad Münster-Region". It was an interesting afternoon with a groupof nice people.

In Oranienburg-Germendorf exists the beautiful Animal- and Dinosaur-Park. Beneath the Animalpark with some seldom species the Dinosaur-Park with the big sculptures is the more interesting part. Not only for children … especially for the photographer.

In March 2012 I was with a former collegue in his hometown Bretten. Bretten lies in the centre of a rectangle that is formed by Heidelberg, Karlsruhe, Heilbronn and Stuttgart as corners. It has a population of approximately 28.000. The centre of Bretten consists of many old half-timbered houses around a lively marketplace.

"The Hardtsee with a thick crust" - Part 1

The Hardtsee in Ubstadt normally doesn´t freeze over in winter. But some cold winters it becomes reality. So in February 2012. We had a period of 3 weeks with icy temperatures. Officially it was not permitted to walk over the ice. But hundreds of people didn´t keep with this prohibition.

"Frozen Moor on a sunny afternoon"

In Weingarten (10km north of Karlsruhe) is a small nature reserve moor. It is situated in a small forest between the railway and the B3. On a cold sunday afternoon in January 2012 I strolled through the frozen forest and took some pictures.

One of my favorite´s place in Ubstadt 2011 was the field beyond a high-voltage power line. So on that day I had a look for "lines" …. whatever these were: power-lines, airplane-lines, field-lines or railway-lines.
