"That´s why Karlsruhe is the fan city"

Palace+Botanical Garden | Karlsruhe | Germany | 2006-10
Karlsruhe Palace (German: Karlsruher Schloss) was erected in 1715 by Margrave Charles III William of Baden-Durlach, after a dispute with the citizens of his previous capital, Durlach. The city of Karlsruhe has since grown around it and was planned with the tower of the palace (Schloss) at the centre and 32 streets radiating out from it like spokes on a wheel, or ribs on a folding fan, so that a nickname for Karlsruhe in German is the "fan city" (Fächerstadt).

"The smaller sister of Mallorca" - Part 3

Menorca | Spain | 2006-10
At the end of summer 2006 we made a trip to Menorca. Svenja was almost 2 years old and my wife was pregnant. The Hotel where we stayed was reaching the end of season, so everything was getting calm and easy. One day we hired a car and explore the island. It is nice with a lot of beautiful spots, f.e. the white-painted houses, the lighthouses on the coast and some old buildings from ancient times.
