Like every year, we spent a few days over Easter in Berlin. This year, however. not in a Spring capital but in a winter sports capital. But not only snow was exciting. The temperatures were near -10 degrees Celsius.

The Hardtsee in Ubstadt normally doesn´t freeze over in winter. But some cold winters it becomes reality. So in February 2012. We had a period of 3 weeks with icy temperatures. Officially it was not permitted to walk over the ice. But hundreds of people didn´t keep with this prohibition.

One of my favorite´s place in Ubstadt 2011 was the field beyond a high-voltage power line. So on that day I had a look for "lines" …. whatever these were: power-lines, airplane-lines, field-lines or railway-lines.

After celebrating XMAS 2010 in Berlin we took the ICE train to return to Ubstadt. Here are some pics from the trip. Note that the pics were taken through the ICE windows during a speed from about 200 km/h (125 mph).

The whole december 2010 will get into the german anuals as the month with the big snow. After being in Vienna I flew directly to Berlin (luckily during a period where planes could start and land). And so here are the results of some walks through winter wonderland.

The whole Schoenbrunn complex with Tiergarten Schoenbrunn, Palmenhaus, Wuestenhaus and the Wagenburg, accounted for more than five million visitors. Palace Schoenbrunn is one of the most important cultural monuments in Austria.

At the turn of the year 2006/2007 we stayed with a 2 year old Svenja for one week in Winterberg/Sauerland. It was a very cold but sunny week as you can see on the pictures.
